Formentera House

The house without walls: a construction that is not built, that lives without occupying, that protects without closing. On a small plot of pine forest, the house is designed as a refuge, a shade, something deliberately ephemeral that allows you to inhabit the island for a few years without leaving a trace. The materials and spaces respond to the same logic of the ephemeral: minimal footprint, absolute respect for nature, program reduced to the essential — a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom and a large table to share. The day it is dismantled, it will leave no trace behind. Like a footprint on the seashore. The seed of the project is a 4x4 meter tool shed. From it, the house grows as things do on the islands: with what there is, with what the sea returns. Wooden decking, reeds that provide shade and protection from the wind—everything finds its place naturally. The complex breathes with the same organic logic of the place that houses it.
